But for believers and religious people, it is like a bond that collects people together, it is a way to celebrate the good times and to preserve and live with the faith, whereas for some believers it is a sweet form of noise that is played for the Lord. Gospel music has also been considered to stir in various emotions in people.

If we look back at the history of gospel music, you will see that the gospel music started its journey back in the eighteenth century. At that time, people used to line hymns and used to go over those hymns in a call and a reply like fashion. Quite on the other side, another type of spiritual music from the African slaves came by. These slaves were tortured by their masters; hence, they started to take a way out in worship for greater Lord and started their own worship hymns.

1900 – 1930s. During this time the gospel music exhibited the social changes that were occurring throughout the United States of America, as the blacks were moving from the South to various areas of the country and were accompanied with their own gospel music.

1930s. this era was named after the Father of Contemporary Gospel Music, Thomas A. Dorsey and so was called, Dorsey Era. Thomas A. Dorsey earned this respect with his great creations of songs that amalgamated shouting praises and passionate emotions.

1940s. this era gave way to the gospel ensembles and quartets through groups that go through U.S. that sprang the demand for this genre of music.

1950s. this era added extra beauty to gospel music with different
music organs, instruments like pianos.
